Note:  The City has awarded the installation of an additional RRFB at Burnett Street and Dewdney Trunk Road. Fraser City Installations (1989) Ltd. is anticipated to complete this RRFB by the end of May 2017.

RRFBs are user-activated amber LEDs that supplement warning signs at uncontrolled crosswalks or mid-block crosswalks. They are activated by pedestrians using a push button.  RRFBs use an irregular flash pattern that is similar to emergency flashers on police vehicles or a flashing strobe. They warn drivers when pedestrians are using the crosswalk.  The RRFBs are also equipped with audible pedestrian pushbuttons with an audio message "Amber lights are now flashing, use caution, vehicle may not stop immediately.”  RRFBs are a warning device only.  Pedestrians must ensure vehicles have stopped before crossing.

Further information on RRFBs is available at Transportation Association of Canada (TAC).
