Regional Context Statement

Maple Ridge is currently updating the Regional Context Statement in the Official Community Plan (OCP) to show the alignment between the OCP and the current Regional Growth Strategy (RGS), adopted by Metro Vancouver in July 2011. The Local Government Act, Section 866 requires that a municipality must include a Regional Context Statement in the OCP where a regional plan is in effect. The Regional Context Statement must specifically identify the relationship between the Regional Growth Strategy and the OCP, and if applicable, identify how the OCP will be made consistent with the RGS over time.

In October 2012, Council endorsed the process for updating the Maple Ridge Regional Context Statement. On March 18, 2013, Council passed a resolution that identified the consultation process for the Regional Context Statement, as required by Section 879 of the Local Government Act, which includes posting the proposed OCP Amending Bylaw on the website, an online questionnaire and an invitation for the public to comment.
